At Nibras International School, we are proud of the success our students achieve inside and outside of the classroom, as well as in and out of school. We are delighted to celebrate their achievements and share news of them with our community.
Meet Kiaan, a Grade 2 student at our school.
“I love golf because it is such a nice sport. I just like playing it,” Kiaan shared when asked about his favorite activity outside of school.
Kiaan’s first experience with golf happened at a very young age and was kind of an accident. His father was supposed to sell his golf clubs, so had decided to use them one last time. At the driving range, Kiaan, who is a curious boy, picked up the clubs and tried to hit the balls. Instantly he was hooked. He left that day with his dad’s promise to bring him back to the driving range every day. Needless to say dad did not sell his clubs afterall.
His love for golf developed and Kiaan was four years old when he took part in his first tournament. He remembers practicing every day in preparation for it.
His continued drive to play and get better at golf is all thanks to the unceasing support from his parents. Since the first day he learned to swing a golf club, his parents have never hesitated in taking him to practice sessions and games.
“I love that my parents show their support. It gets me focused and makes me think that I can really do this,” Kiaan says.
Now at seven years old, Kiaan is a regular in tournaments. Recently, he represented Nibras International School in the Dubai School Games Par 3 Golf Championships for the U10 age category. The tournament was held at Emirates Golf Club.
For Kiaan, the experience was memorable as he played against students from other schools in Dubai. He was also happy to represent the school and wear the school’s uniform while competing.
“I was very happy playing for my school. I noticed that I was the only one from Nibras who joined the tournament, which made me super happy. Hopefully, I can show my fellow schoolmates how to play golf one day,” he shared.
When asked what his goal is, Kiaan only had this to say: “I want to be a professional golf player and to win next year’s Dubai Schools Games.”
With persistence and support from those around him, we know that Kiaan will get closer to achieving his goal.
Congratulations Kiaan! The entire Nibras community is excited to hear about your next success.
