In honor of Teachers Day, HH Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of United Arab Emirates hosted a Teacher’s Appreciation event at the Al Bahr Palace, Abu Dhabi. It was an honor and privilege to have Ms. Hannelie Cranko, our Assistant Head for Lower Elementary, as one of the 120 selected educators who attended the event.
During the event, Sheik Mohamed reiterated the importance of teachers in building a strong future for the UAE. He also thanked the teachers for their efforts in ensuring that all students, no matter the nationality, are receiving the same quality of education. Teachers were also asked to share their ideas and suggestions to help improve the quality of education in the country.
For Ms. Cranko, the event was an indication of the government’s dedication to elevate the country’s education system and its commitment to involve teachers in the process.
“Through this experience, I have gained valuable insight of how important the education system is for HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. You can see it is vital for him that students become independent, critical thinkers that make good moral choices in accordance with the UAE’s vision and mission,” she shared.
She also promised to impart what she learned from the experience to her fellow educators at Nibras.
“I will share how quality education is a priority to ensure students have the opportunity to become valued members of the community who can contribute towards the development and growth of the UAE,” she said.
