NIS Dubai teaches an American curriculum and follows the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Common Core Plus program, which provides a framework for curriculum consistency across grades KG-12 in alignment with research-based trends and ongoing developments within this curriculum worldwide, and in the USA.

AERO is a project supported by the U.S. State Department’s Office of Overseas Schools (A/OPR/OS) and the Overseas Schools Advisory Council to assist schools in developing and implementing standards-based curricula.

Why Choose AERO Common Core Plus Curriculum Over the Common Core Standards?

The AERO Common Core Plus curriculum standards align with the Common Core Standards while providing value-added support to overseas schools as they work to become fully standards-based. NIS is an overseas American school with a diverse teacher and student population, therefore it makes sense to choose a curriculum that supports this.

By following the AERO Common Core Plus curriculum, we are also fortunate to belong to a community of around 100 schools outside of the U.S. that are implementing AERO-based standards. This provides us with opportunities to share ideas with and learn from other educational institutions and teachers around the world.

International Primary Curriculum (IPC)

NIS Dubai also integrates the IPC for children aged 5 – 11 years old. It is used by over 2,000 schools in 93 countries worldwide, and is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum, with a clear process of learning and specific learning goals for every subject. It also develops international mindedness and encourages personal learning.
