We’re dedicated to igniting the
torch of learning in every child

About Us

As a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), NIS is dedicated to igniting the torch of learning in every child. Our curriculum ignites curiosity and leadership on a global stage. By promoting students’ interests, we develop curious, knowledgeable, self-aware citizens who have the integrity and drive to build a better world.

NIS was founded to serve the educational needs of the Green Community and Dubai Investment Park communities in Dubai, although we also see children from areas across Dubai attending our school.

Catering to children from ages 4 to 18 (KG through to Grade 12), we offer an affordable American education with modern approaches to learning, through the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Common Core Plus program. AERO provides a framework for curriculum consistency across grades KG-12 in alignment with research-based trends and ongoing developments within this curriculum worldwide and in the USA.

We are also one of the few mid-market American curriculum high schools in Dubai offering Advanced Placement courses for high school students, and we have some of the best indoor and outdoor sports facilities of any school in Dubai.

Our aim is to place our students at the heart of all that we do, nurturing their potential to ensure that they learn, lead, and influence. We are committed to three guiding principles:

1. Amazing Learning

NIS Dubai embraces the individuality of every learner. We support student learning through a robust, student-focused American curriculum, enriching extra-curricular activities, and focus relentlessly on each child’s ability to amaze.

Learning is about getting better academically, socially and emotionally. Amazing Learning happens when students surprise themselves by getting better to a level beyond which they thought possible. Whether through mentoring, enrichment or personalised study, NIS Dubai recognizes and nurtures each student’s gifts and talents so that they amaze themselves and inspire others.

2. A True Sense of Community

At NIS Dubai, students develop a sense of themselves, as well as the world around them, making connections within and between cultures. NIS Dubai opens students’ hearts and minds so that they embrace challenges and opportunities, inspiring them to find their own unique paths to making a difference.

3. Global Vision

Truly international, the NIS Dubai community hails from more than 80 different countries, and is a family of highly diverse individuals whose collective aim is to build a better world through amazing learning. The power of the NIS learning community is achieved by recognizing, valuing, and connecting the different contributions and talents of all its members.

“Our students benefit from a strong focus on academic standards and high behavioral expectations as well as high enjoyment levels in learning.”

Growing Learning, Growing School

NIS Dubai was acquired by the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a global network of 76 schools across 21 countries, in February 2017. Being part of ISP ensures outstanding international learning connections, quality assurance, and excellent governance.

In this time, we have achieved some dramatic improvements across the areas of leadership and management, student achievement, teaching and assessment, and student support. The NIS teacher turnover rate is now well below the average for schools in Dubai.

KHDA Inspection

In the short amount of time since the International Schools Partnership acquired NIS Dubai, we’ve seen some remarkable improvements, demonstrable in the most recent KHDA inspection.

NIS was rated ‘Good’ or ‘Very Good’ by the KHDA across 58 of the areas that used to be ‘Acceptable’ over the last two years. An immense amount of changes in a short period of time have been achieved, including the improvement of facilities, resources, and teaching and learning at the school, which has been supported by the leadership team at NIS, and the International Schools Partnership regional team.

Below is a summary of the KHDA inspection findings and areas that were rated ‘Good’.

  • Leadership and Management: The Senior Leadership Team has achieved so much in the relatively short time since the last inspection. The majority of aspects across leadership, management, self-evaluation and improvement planning are now effective.
  • Students’ Achievement: Good progress has been made across all year groups. Students’ personal and social skills remain at a good level, and attendance is good. Their attitude towards learning, towards others and towards the wider community are positive, particularly in high school.
  • Teaching and Assessment: The quality of the curriculum has improved and it is now good across all phases. The range of courses available is extensive in the middle and high schools. There have been some innovative curriculum changes in both the KG and the elementary school.
  • Student Support: Staff has actively addressed recommendations from the previous inspection. The school promotes health and well-being in a range of ways.

Distance Learning Program

The Distance Learning Provision at Nibras has been given the highest possible rating by the KHDA. The “Developed” rating has been awarded for the Amazing Distance Learning program in 2020.
