Lawrence, a Grade 5 student, started making artwork as a hobby when he was eight.
It all started when he saw some sample works and decided to try creating his own piece of art. With spray paints in various colors and an idea in his mind, he created his first canvas, which he admitted was a bit rough.
Since then, Lawrence has not stopped and has continued to improve his craft through practice. Now, he is getting more comfortable and has started creating text art during break time at school and on weekends.
He admits that he is still learning various drawing and painting techniques and that it will take time for him to be able to refine his skills, but his dedication and growth mindset are all because of the support he is receiving from his family, friends, and school. He also continues to create art because it makes him happy.
“I feel happy when I get to express myself through my art. When I am in front of a blank canvas, I just want to fill it with colors and ideas,” he shared. “I am thankful for the people who support me in my love for art.”
As a way to express his thanks and appreciation, Lawrence donated one of his paintings to Nibras International School.
Dr. Jay Teston, the Head of School and Principal, expressed his gratitude to Lawrence and emphasized the importance of fostering creativity within the school community.
“We at Nibras International School are truly grateful for Lawrence’s generous donation. His artistic talent and willingness to contribute to the school’s environment are commendable. We believe that fostering creativity in students is essential for their overall development, and Lawrence is setting a fantastic example for his peers,” shared Dr. Teston.
We hope Lawrence’s artistic journey continues to bring him happiness and success, and we look forward to witnessing the beautiful creations that will undoubtedly emerge from his evolving talent.
