NIS Students Shine as Runners-Up for Best Robot Design at UAE First Lego League
Congratulations to students enrolled in our robotics course at Nibras International school. These High School students received the runners-up prize for the Best Robot award at the First Lego League Competition held at Royal Grammar School Guildford, Dubai.
Competing with other high school students from international schools in Dubai, our students created a robot that was inspired by the theme of “Masterpiece”. Our students showcased their creativity using the LEGO Spike Prime hardware and software in order to create this robot. Their goal was to design and build an all-purpose yet sturdy robot to complete several competition missions in minimal time.
The robot had USB ports to connect to the sensors and motors for the wheels. The design allowed the user to quickly attach and detach robot arms, gears, forklifter, Cruze blade, and other components to accomplish various challenges in the competition. It was an autonomous robot that displayed messages of code numbers on its light matrix panel and used color sensors to help make decisions.
The students and Ms. Tanzeela, our ICT Teacher, spent hours after school planning and preparing for this competition.
“We are really happy that all our hard work and dedication paid off. Since it’s our first time joining this competition, it’s a great experience for us to apply what we are learning inside the classroom to the real world,” Minalee, one of the students, shared.
The accomplishment of the students is a testament to their skills, teamwork, and innovative thinking. Congratulations to our students.
As an American curriculum school in Dubai, Nibras International School provides students with many different High School course options, and Robotics is one of them.
