Our Elementary students had a unique opportunity to practice a Qigong session. This is an ancient technique, developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, improving health and well-being.
A special guest, Ms. Amy Pope, visited NIS and guided our Elementary students through the Qigong session. Ms. Amy is a mindful movement and meditation coach who has been on a journey of healing, discovery and wellness for many years. She guided our students to embrace their uniqueness, feel empowered to make and respond to changes in their life and create their own story.
In their Qigong session, our students practiced flexibility, strength, and balance. The benefits of this type of exercise are felt both physically and mentally, as the gentle movements with breathing exercises and a little imagination allowed them to feel their body strengthen and calm their mind.
Students and teachers enjoyed the Qigong session, and they are looking forward to incorporating these movements during their classroom breaks.
Ms. Amy was happy to share her knowledge of Qigong with the students and said: “The energy in the room was very positive, and they enjoyed tuning into their own Qi (energy) and then letting it flow. The movements in Qigong are simple and suitable for everyone. It was amazing to see so many smiling faces motivated for the rest of the day.”
