Dubai-based Nibras International School (NIS), part of International Schools Partnership (ISP), a global group of schools, has received the prestigious National Honor Society affiliate status for the 2020-2021 school year. The school has received this status based on their commitment to student and community affairs.
With Chapters of the National Honor Society found throughout the US and the world, the membership recognizes learning establishments and students globally for their accomplishments and challenges them to develop further, through active involvement in their respective school activities and community service.
“We are delighted to be affiliated to the National Honor Society. This membership will help us to establish a solid framework for promoting the ideals of scholarship, service, leadership, and character in our school. This globally-recognized program not only marks a historic milestone for Nibras International School, but also recognizes our achievement in student and community engagement activities, which form part of our core values. It’s a great honor to join other globally recognized schools and only a very few in the UAE, as an National Honor Society member.” said Dr. Jay B. Teston, Principal, Nibras International School.
According to Dr. Teston, earning and maintaining a National Honor Society membership comes with exclusive tools and resources for students that will support them in their endeavors and help them be active citizens with long-term goals.
“High school students who are selected to join the National Honor Society will gain access to academic scholarships, college admissions support, and leadership cultivation. More than one million students worldwide participate in the National Honor Society. Nibras International School students will have the opportunity to network with other student members from the United States, Canada, and international American schools worldwide. One of the main core values that guide members of the National Honor Society is community service and volunteering. Through this membership, our students will be able to complete service projects both as a chapter and individually, attend leadership conferences, learn from quality leaders in various fields, and create a professional portfolio. We are excited to begin this new journey with the National Honor Society and are proud that our students will develop into strong community and global leaders,” said Dr. Teston
Nibras International School nurtures students to become active and conscious members of communities they live in and also the global community. The opportunities that students will have due to this membership, further complement the ISP International Learning Opportunities like the ISP Virtual Buddy Exchange, the ISP MUN, and the ISP Futures initiative to name a few, that NIS and all ISP students have access to.
“Through our various student-centered activities, such as the Model United Nations, student enrichment programs, career guidance and the ISP Buddy Exchange Program, we have been able to cultivate our students’ potential to ensure that they learn, lead and influence. The National Honor Society affiliation now gives the Nibras International School community an opportunity to further develop a sense of themselves, the world around, and how they can more for the rest of the community,” Dr. Teston concluded.
