Our entire community came together to commemorate the UAE’s 50th National Day.
NIS students, teachers, and staff gathered to celebrate the history and culture of the country we all call home – The UAE. To commemorate the UAE’s 50th National Day, our community proudly wore the colors of the UAE flag and wore traditional clothing – Abayas and Kanduras.
To further show our love for the UAE culture, our students performed traditional songs and dances. They even organized a fashion show, presenting all the amazing outfits our students and teachers had worn during the day.
NIS Emirati students sang the UAE National Anthem, and Hessa, a Grade 12 Emirati student, recited a poem in Arabic dedicated to the UAE – ‘The Homeland Poem’.
To celebrate National Day, our KG students performed a specially choreographed dance to the song ‘The Seven Emirates’, showing great teamwork. Elementary students performed ‘Emirati Oheb We Aashak’ and ‘Ahmed Allah Wa Ashkor’ songs, presenting their amazing skills. Our Middle School students performed the song ‘Spirit of the Union’, while High School students showed the special Yola Dance – traditional dance performance with sticks. The performances ended with the special performance of the official EXPO song – ‘This Is Our Time’. Weeks of practice were rewarded with long applause.
After the performances, our community visited the ‘Mini Souq’ area, where there was Emirati food being served, and Henna artists on hand. One of the most memorable experiences for the students was seeing animals specific to the UAE – the camel and falcon.
As our younger students learned more about the UAE they created amazing art from recyclable materials. Everyone enjoyed the replicas of the Dubai Frame, Burj Khalifa, Ain Dubai, and many others Dubai landmarks.
This amazing celebration was possible because of the collaborative hard work of our teachers and students. Thank you for making this day memorable for all!
