Our Assistant Head for Upper Elementary, Ms. Hannelie Cranko, was recognized as one of the finalists in the recently concluded “The Green Awards”, hosted by the Arabian Radio Network (ARN) in connection to the COP28. The Awards welcomed nominees from different organizations in order to celebrate their sustainable efforts and the positive impact they are making on the environment.
Ms. Cranko was one of the nominees for the Green Teacher of the Year, along with four other educators from the UAE. She was invited to attend the Awarding Ceremony at the Habtoor Grand Resort in Dubai.
Being an educator, Ms. Cranko is committed to making a positive impact on the environment through education. The nomination in The Green Awards and the opportunity to meet fellow educators and professionals with the same passion, further strengthened her resolve to continue promoting sustainability and environmental awareness.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Nibras International School and ARN for this recognition. Being nominated is already a highlight of my year,” she shared.
Since last academic year, Ms. Cranko has introduced various initiatives that helped promote sustainability and environmental protection. She spearheaded the “NIS Recycling Project”, encouraging the NIS community to donate used bottles for students to use for their projects in school.
As the supervisor of the Elementary Student Council, Ms. Cranko also guides our young student leaders with their environmental projects and has supported them to get involved in Beach Clean Up activities. This not only empowers our students to take on leadership roles but also instills in them a sense of responsibility in caring for the environment.
