NIS Community, we did it!
We collected and donated about 1.5 tons of rice to the UAE Food Bank. Our International Day, Zero Hunger initiative made this possible in just one week. Now in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent, the UAE Food Bank will sent our donation to Syria and Turkiye.
The Zero Hunger Project was a shared idea between the students in the Gifted and Talented Program and the Elementary and Secondary Student Council members. The campaign was a pledge to support the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal #2, Zero Hunger. During brainstorming ideas, the students recognized the need to celebrate this year’s International Day by showing sensitivity towards the needs of others in both our local and extended global communities.
Representatives of the UAE Food Bank visited our school to meet our Gift and Talented students and our young student leaders.
Thank you NIS students, families and staff for all your support. This shows that celebrating culture is also about showing respect, tolerance and care for everyone.
