NIS believes that physical activity plays a critical role in a student’s development and well-being. In addition to a large multi-purpose gym, NIS students enjoy access to a football field, a lawn tennis court, and an indoor heated swimming pool.
Inspiring Music and Art & Craft Rooms
NIS believes that art allows students to express themselves in a way that enriches their learning by harnessing creativity and complementing academic achievements. Our well-equipped art and music facilities encourage young artists and musicians of all abilities and across all age groups to get involved and build their self-confidence, imagination and critical thinking skills.
The NIS library houses vast resources for students, staff and parents to increase knowledge and understanding on different subjects and support classroom studies.
ICT provision and a move to Google for Education
We are constantly investigating new technology to use in teaching and learning. The school has two computer laboratories with internet and multi-media facilities. For the new academic year, we are excited to have invested in 80 Chromebooks for classroom use. We are also embracing online learning via ‘Google for Education.’
A STEAM lab is currently in the works to facilitate cross-curricular teaching and learning in robotics, programming and coding and more. The lab is aimed at strengthening preparation for higher education and enhancing career opportunities in the digital sector. Similarly, NIS embraces mobile electronic devices, used under close supervision, as an effective learning tool for middle and high school students.
Nibras’ e-safety program ensures students and parents are both safe during online sessions and aware of cybersecurity best practices.
The science lab at Nibras encourages safe and practical scientific application. It is undergoing renovation and will open to students in September, 2017.
The NIS guidance counsellor works closely with students to guide and prepare them for life beyond the classroom. We also offer a range of aptitude tests to help students discover and choose the career of their interest.
A fleet of air-conditioned buses transport Nibras students comfortably to and from school. The bus routes cover all key areas of Dubai
Students may travel one or both ways on the bus. All buses have a Bus Monitor to assist with the supervision of students, and a female Bus Assistant to help young students with bags, adjust seat belts and to ensure student safety.
Bus service is available for an additional fee payable by Parents.
In accordance with Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health regulations, NIS has a well-equipped medical clinic with a full-time trained and experienced nurse. Additionally, a school doctor visits the school once a week. All cases of injury or illness receive medical attention.
The School Store
School uniform, prescribed textbooks, workbooks and stationery are all available at the school store.
The standard school-produced uniform is compulsory for all students from KG1 to Grade 12, including a student PE Kit. All necessary items can be purchased from the School Store.
The Nibras cafeteria offers a variety of healthy, nutritious food. Lunches are provided every day and snacks are available at morning break. To further promote healthy eating habits, students are encouraged to refrain from bringing sweets, chocolate, candies, chips, soda pop or any kind of non-nutritious food or sweet drink to school. Fresh and dried fruits, vegetables and nuts are examples of healthy snacks.
Please note that only middle and high school students are permitted to purchase food from the cafeteria.
